Walnuts are the
edible seeds that grow on walnut trees and most often consumed as a standalone
snack but also added to salads, pastas, breakfast cereals, soups and baked
goods. By adding walnuts, the nutrient profile of desserts and snack bars is
enhanced. Depending on their intended use, walnuts are sold shelled, or
de-shelled and offered in whole, halves or smaller portions.
